Small Dovetailed Picture Frame (Dec 21, 2016 )

A small picture frame I made for my mom as a Christmas gift. With The By way oak and dovetails.

project

Woodworking Bench (Dec 1, 2016 )

My first real woodworking bench. I made this out of a butcher block top that was left over from the built in desk that is in Lucia’s room. The base was made out of yellow pine that I laminated together for thickness. The bench ended up quite unbalanced because of the heavy vise so I ended up having to weigh it down to keep it stable.

Project

Sharpening Stone Holder (Nov 12, 2016 )

A Paul-Sellers-inspired sharpening stone holder made out of plywood.

project

Joinery Mallet (Oct 9, 2016 )

After seeing how Paul Sellers made a mallet to use with his chisels, I decided to make my own. I found some scrap tropical hardwood that my brother had left in my shop and a few hours later I had a mallet. This thing has been a fantastic companion and feels familiar in the hand years later. The wood, as best as I can guess, is called Macacauba, based on a marking that the boards had before I cut them up. The construction is simple, with the head of the mallet being a sandwich of three pieces with a space in between to make the mortise.

project

Kitchen Shelves (Sep 11, 2016 )

My first project using a hand plane that I borrowed from a coworker.

Toilet Paper Storage Cabinet (Feb 12, 2016 )

A small cabinet to store TP in the kids bathroom. Table saw joinery on more of the same white oak plywood. Turned out pretty nice.
